Why me? Why did God choose me to become His child?

I learned about Jesus from childhood as I attended Sunday school and I always believed that the world was created by God. I continued attended church through my teens, attended YPF and became a leader in the Boys Brigade. I willingly contributed to the life of the church. I lived a relatively good life, worked hard and I thought I was OK, but it was all me, me, me.

In my mid-twenties during an emotionally difficult time a new minister came to our church and I heard the gospel preached for the first time. I rebelled at first thinking that I couldn’t be a sinner worthy of hell. I was happy in my church lifestyle, I enjoyed my friendships and the social life but I had never thought about salvation and the consequences of not having Jesus as my Saviour.

Over the next few months I was convicted of my sin and came to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I came to believe that His sacrifice on the cross cleansed me from all sin. I have just to have faith and obey His word.

During my life I have sometimes been very rebellious and charged headlong into sinful ways, but God has kept His hand on me and always brought me back.

Why did God choose me to become His child?

Because of the sacrifice that Jesus made at Calvary for me. Ephesians 2:8 says:

“For it is by Grace you have been saved, through faith, and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
