Evidence is a bit like a jigsaw puzzle; it comes in pieces which have to be put together before a convincing picture is formed…

Here are a few pieces of the ‘jigsaw puzzle’ which are worth thinking about!
1. The Bible – A unique book
Forty authors, written over 1,500 years, in three languages, over three continents. Yet the Bible is accurate in its prophecies and consistent in its message! No other book has had such influence, has been translated into so many languages, has survived so many attempts to eradicate it, has addressed so many controversies…no other book comes near! Have you read it?
2. The Bible – A reliable book
Archaeologists are always excited by ‘biblical’ finds – and their findings confirm the historical accuracy of the Bible. From Genesis and the Patriarchal customs of the Bronze Age, to King David, Herod ‘the Great’ and Paul the Apostle…each are confirmed by contemporary archaeology.
3. Nature – A masterpiece
If just one living, reproducible species had evolved from random elements, that would be truly miraculous. But to believe that a whole world of biological diversity and complexity did so, is simply beyond credibility. We can marvel at intricate living mechanisms, or our delicate environmental balance, or the sheer beauty of natural things…and miss the point completely. Behind the design, is the work of the Designer!
4. Man – A unique creature
Man alone has a progressive language, a developing technology, a capacity for abstract thinking, moral judgements and creativity. The human brain is incredible. It should make you think!
5. Conscience – A constant reminder
Mark Twain wrote, “Man is the only animal that blushes – or needs to!” Unlike any other living being, Man is aware of morals, aware of guilt and aware of someone greater than himself: God. Voltaire, the sceptic, died screaming…for somehow the in-built sense of right and wrong reminds us that we are accountable to God.
6. Conversion – A powerful witness
It is not the occasional testimony of someone notoriously evil being converted that is remarkable; rather, it is the millions of ordinary men and women whose lives are transformed by a living relationship with God. A transformation that is independent of culture, race or place in history.
7. Nations – A powerful warning
History has shown the devastating effects on nations guided by atheism. Hitler’s ideology was founded on the evolutionary notion of the ‘master race’, while communism with its Humanist foundation has oppressed millions. A relationship with God is personal, but an atheistic ‘world-view’ has collective implications.
8. Jesus Christ – A figure of history
No serious historian doubts that Jesus of Nazareth was a real figure of history. From Josephus and Tacitus of the first century AD, to the history scholars of today – all affirm the reality of Jesus. Such was the historical Jesus, that our modern calendar is based on his coming! Whatever you think of Jesus, his existence cannot be ignored!
9. Jesus Christ – Born to die
The religions of the world claim to worship great and powerful gods, seeking to reach them or please them. But Christians worship the One who reached down to them, giving his own life for them and coming to rescue them. Christianity is not about us ‘doing’, it’s about responding to what has already been done!
10. Jesus Christ – A risen Saviour
Frank Morison was a British lawyer who set out to write a book seeking to prove, once and for all, that the ‘resurrection’ was a myth. But Morison found the evidence for the resurrection overwhelming and finished up writing a very different book! ‘Who Moved the Stone?’ is published by Authentic Media (ISBN: 978-1850786740).
